“I sat on the sofa at 5am one day and thought, ‘Why am I wasting 13 years of fire industry knowledge, a commerce degree, and a lifetime of sales and customer service experience?’”
I’m not going to pretend that Vixen Fire is a large business, with staff and flashy buildings. You simply won’t get that from me. What you will get is honesty, competitive prices and someone who is willing to work extra hard to ensure you’re 100% happy with their service. A real person.
You might have dealt with me in the past. In 2004, I commenced co-building a similar company from a kitchen in the fairly remote town of Gembrook. It flourished, so we moved to Don Valley to larger premises. I completely left the business at the end of 2017, and started a completely new, wonderful life - with a new name in a new town near the city.
In the following two years, I worked in retail and fleet car sales, spent a couple of months in Europe, and co-built a beautiful home. Yes! I’ve been a Tradie! Bricking, jack hammering, painting, digging trenches, and crawling through the roof space to install insulation, to name a few tasks – there was nothing I wouldn’t do! My father was a hard working fitter and turner, and I would have made him proud. He taught me how to use power tools when I was about eight, how to swing an axe to dig out tree stumps at about ten, and how to work on a car since I was very young. I was always his shadow. He encouraged me to be myself and to not fear traditional male tasks.
I actually wanted to become a labourer after the build but, let’s face it, a mature female body can only keep that up for so many years before it would be time to look for an alternative career, so I went back into the familiarity of sales.
When Covid-19 hit, I was stood down due to the immediate drop in demand for new cars. Stranded at home, I found I could only go for so many walks and create so many amazing meals before I was going to get frustrated. I have to be working, learning, creating...it’s in my DNA!

With the support of my family and NEIS, I’m back to what I enjoy and know well.
I’m looking forward to being of assistance to you, and helping charities along the way as part of my ‘pay it forward’ values.
